All Star Panelist Roger Simon Talks Omicron Variant

 

Live from Music Row Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist and Senior Editor-At-Large for The Epoch Times Roger Simon in-studio to discuss the Omicron variant in relation to the coronavirus.

Leahy: We are joined in studio now by Carol Swain and Roger Simon. Carol, you’re going to be on Fox and Friends First tomorrow. Tell us about that.

Swain: Yes. And Fox and Friends First is for early morning risers. And the reason I do it is that the clips usually get played later in the morning. But my hit time is 4:42 a.m. Central time.

Leahy: I will be able to watch it.  I will be in studio here 18 minutes before we go on air and I’ll have you on camera. We’ll see what you have to say. What are you going to be talking about?

Swain: I will get my topic later today. And I’m likely to do them on a regular basis. Maybe on Thursdays.

Leahy: Yeah, well, that makes sense.

Swain: So we’ll both be up! And you’ll be able to watch it. (Simon chuckles) It increases the likelihood that I come here more on Thursdays. (Leahy bellows)

Simon: I will definitely be seeing that on tape delay.

Leahy: Roger makes a big effort on Thursdays at 7:00 a.m. You are here Thursday at 7:00 a.m.

Simon: I’m usually here sometimes I’m not.

Leahy: You’re usually here. Roger, we were talking about this. The COVID-19 emergency. It started officially back in March of 2020. We’re almost two years into it. What’s the current status of all this? The Delta variant, the Omicron variant, and the masks. They want masks. They want this. They want that.

Simon: Well, here’s what I wrote for The Epoch Times. It’s on there right now. I wrote something outrageous. It’s over. It’s actually over.

Swain: You mean their ability to manipulate us?

Simon: No, that is going to be preserved into perpetuity. What I’m saying is the actual threat of COVID itself is draining out.

Swain: Do you mean Bill Gates is going to have to release that smallpox threat that he said might become the next epidemic?

Simon: We don’t know exactly what Bill has up his sleeve. (Laughter)

Swain: But he’s already warned us we’ll need a vaccine for smallpox.

Simon: The purpose of my piece is to say beware of what that may be. And also don’t move to New Zealand because the woman who is the prime minister of New Zealand has just declared that everybody will have to wear a mask forever, no matter what happens. The whole thing about COVID was, well look it was a bad thing. And lots of people died, but they shouldn’t have, because if they had taken hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin they wouldn’t have died.

Leahy: In theory.

Simon: No, in reality.

Swain: I agree.

Simon: Some would have died of course. Many many would have survived.

Leahy: So that’s the caveat.

Simon: If they had taken it early.

Leahy: Remember now, everybody, we’re not doctors. We don’t play them on the radio. But we do read the news.

Swain: And you may remember this back early on when they first started the lockdowns. I wrote articles just looking at the statistics of the world population, the U.S. population, and also who the actors were and what they were pushing and the ones that were doing this hospital model of how many hospital beds you are going to need and that they had political ties.

Leahy: Bend the curve.

Swain: I had questioned the narrative from the very beginning.

Simon: Not just political ties. They had ties to Pfizer and Moderna. The whole thing with Moderna is incredibly strong. I mean, they were involved with the original stuff back in Wuhan, which is months before we ever heard about it. The amount of money that was made on this staggering.

Swain: If we had watched them and that pandemic exercise that they did at Johns Hopkins University in 2019, we would have invested in the pharmaceutical companies. And I don’t know about you, but we could have benefited as they did.

Simon: (Chuckles) If we had invested.

Leahy: So back to the point of that. The threat of COVID. I think I’m paraphrasing your argument here. Is it about to go into the land of sort of the flu? It’s not going away.

Simon: A strong flu. Yes, because the pattern of a virus medically is it comes in strong and then it mutates. And as it mutates, the transmissibility increases. But the power of the virus itself decreases. That’s what we’re looking at with the Omicron.

Leahy: This sounds like you’re describing all of the press reports on the Omicron virus. They’re saying that it’s like a cold and the coronavirus is a cold virus.

Simon: And the Omicron actually has actual similarities to the cold itself. It’s partly linked to the cold. So we may in the future, but it won’t be Bill Gates who will have a cure for the cold.

Swain: Roger, this thing about Biden banning travel from seven African countries based on scant evidence, don’t you think that was kind of racist? Racist? (Chuckles)

Simon: You could read it as racist or you could read it as I don’t want Trump to have done anything that I don’t do. (Swain chuckles) 

Leahy: Exactly. Hey, Roger and Carol, there’s a story. Our good friend, John Solomon, you know, John Solomon at Just The News. You see him on Fox all the time and now Real America’s Voice. Here’s the headline of this story, but it’s by Madeleine Hubbard.

Madeleine actually used to work as he was one of our copy editors at Breitbart and just joined Just The News. No Deaths Have Been Linked to Omicron Yet Raising Cautious Optimism. Isn’t that the point?

Simon: That’s the point. No deaths and hardly any hospitalizations. It’s not a dangerous thing, and it probably will remain not dangerous.

Swain: Look at the cost to South Africa just because the scientists drew attention to this new variant. I mean, they really impacted those nations.

Simon: And South Africa relies a lot on tourism. It’s one of the places I’ve always wanted to go and I haven’t gone. But who’s going to go to South Africa right now? People are saying, oh, my God. I don’t want to go and look at all those beautiful animals.

Leahy: So here’s a quote in the Just The News story from Dr. Warner Green, director of HIV Research at the Gladstone Institute, who told this to USA Today. “It would be a great thing if, in fact, Omicron crowded out Delta. If Omicron was a less pathogenic virus, that would be very good news for the human race.”

Simon: Of course. And that’s the pattern that viruses take. The more transmissible a virus tries to survive like everything else or most things. And so it becomes more transmissible. And in order to do it, it weakens. This is a pattern. I’m not a scientist, but I’ve heard about it since I was a kid. Because my father was.

Leahy: Your father was an eminent doctor in Manhattan.

Simon: I’ll tell a great story about my father. When I was seven years old, I was in a hospital with my father. I used to go on rounds with him. And he was very competitive. Intellectual guy. He would always quiz me, what’s the square root of, blah blah blah.

But this time, he said, see that nurse over there, she’s got a mask on. What’s that for? A bacteria or a virus? And I was seven years old. And he said, bacteria. For a virus it’s useless. And this is 50 years ago. (Chuckles)
